Partridge Green Preschool Management Committee

Our pre-school is different from other local settings because we are run as a charity. This means that we must have an elected Management Committee that ensures the charity runs in accordance with our charitable Constitution and acts in the best interests of our beneficiaries (the children) and our charity members. They form the 'registered person' responsible for making sure the provision keeps to the requirements of Ofsted's Early Years Register, The Charity Commission and any other legal regulations.

Parents or guardians of children attending the pre-school automatically hold Family Membership of the charity. This means that family members of our current children are in the unique position to influence how the pre-school is run by being involved in decision making at our General Meetings and electing a Committee.

Our Constitution states that the Committee must have a minimum of 5 elected members of which three should have assigned ‘officer’ roles in the positions of Chair, Treasurer and Secretary. All parents and guardians are eligible to use their Family Membership to stand for election onto the Committee.

Family involvement in this way has been found to have a positive effect on children’s development. When parents and guardians participate in the management of charities like ours, they have the opportunity to shape the services it provides to best meet the needs of the children.

For this reason, our Constitution requires that at least 60% of the individuals appointed to the Committee are Family Members at the time.

Our charitable constitution which was read and agreed at our last AGM can be read here.

To find out how you can get involved, please ask a member of staff or a current member of the committee. Joining the committee is a great way of making friends in the community and the events are really good fun! To find out more about what is involved, please read the following advice from the Charities Commission.

Non-committee members can still help out with events and we welcome any volunteers at our events even if its for only for an hour! We always welcome contributions in the form of raffle and tombola prizes, baking, gardening help, face-painting, help on stalls, etc.
